WHY VOTE YES

IT'S THE ONLY TAX WE DON'T PAY!

Tourists Pay. Tulsa Wins. Visitors cover the cost. Tulsa keeps the benefit.
Sign: It doesn't cost you anything extra
This measure applies only to people booking hotel, motel or short-term rental stays in Tulsa. It does not touch your income, your property taxes or your everyday spending. For the vast majority of Tulsans, this tax will never appear on a receipt they pay.
Sign: It keeps Tulsa's biggest venues competitive
BOK Center hasn’t seen a major renovation since it opened in 2008. This funding allows Tulsa to modernize BOK Center, Arvest Convention Center, and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center—keeping them able to host the concerts, conventions and tournaments that choose between Tulsa and cities like Oklahoma City, Kansas City and Fort Worth. Waiting means risking those events go elsewhere, and it means costlier emergency repairs down the road instead of planned upgrades now.
Sign: It funds the marketing that brings visitors here

Nearly half of the new revenue goes directly to recruiting conventions, promoting Tulsa as a destination, and attracting the events that fill our hotels and restaurants. More visitors means more direct flights, easier travel for Tulsa families and businesses, and a stronger case for national organizations to choose Tulsa.

Sign: It supports local jobs

Tourism already supports more than 16,000 jobs in Tulsa— 1 out of every 16 jobs in the city. Visitors spent $1.43 billion in Tulsa in 2023 alone, or roughly $3.9 million every day. Every dollar Tulsa invests in tourism returns an estimated $162 in direct business sales, tax revenue and labor income.

Sign: It strengthens the whole city budget

Visitor spending generates sales tax revenue that helps pay for the streets, parks and public safety services every Tulsan relies on—without asking residents to pay more.

Sign: Every dollar is tracked

A dedicated share of the funding goes specifically to auditing and enforcement, ensuring the money is collected properly and spent exactly as promised—not diverted to unrelated purposes.

By voting Yes for the Hotel Guest Tax proposition Nov. 3, Tulsans can ensure we maintain our major entertainment venues, attract more events and support the vital economic development that brings jobs and visitor spending into our city—and it's all paid by visitors and not local residents.
